One order, one shipment, one payment step. The customer remembered a second item right after paying. This tool lets them search your catalog and add it to the same order, instead of placing a second one and paying shipping twice. Where your customer sees it: the Thank you page and the Order status page, in the Tacey editing tools block. On every plan; plans differ by order volume only. ## What your customer does 1. Your customer opens "Make changes to your order" and chooses Add a product to your order. 2. Before they search, they see products you have chosen to suggest. They can search or browse the products you allow. 3. They pick a product and a variant, choose a quantity, and see Shopify's own price, tax and balance before doing anything. 4. If it costs more, they confirm and pay the difference through Shopify's own checkout. The order then has both items. ## What you control - **Which products can be searched**: Every active product (the default), specific collections, or specific tags. With a limit chosen and nothing added, customers see no products. - **Hide out-of-stock products**: Products with no variant in stock are dropped from search results entirely. - **Maximum quantity per add**: The most of one item a customer may add in a single request. - **Before the customer searches, show**: Best sellers, newest products, products from the same collection as the order, or your whole catalog A to Z. - **Allow adding items after the whole order has shipped**: On by default: a customer can still add an item once everything has shipped, and the new item ships separately as a second parcel. Off: Add a product, Recommended for you and free gifts are all unavailable once everything has shipped. - **Locations an added item may ship from**: Restrict which of your locations an added item can be fulfilled from. Leave empty to add items without a location check. ## What it refuses - Orders whose edit window has closed. You choose how long customers can edit their own order after checkout. - Orders paid with Shop Pay Installments, orders from before 2019, local delivery orders, orders created by another app, and orders still waiting for payment. Tacey never edits the items on those. - Cancelled orders, and orders that were merged into another order. - An order where everything has already shipped, if you switch off "Allow adding items after the whole order has shipped". It is on until you turn it off. - Prepaid subscription orders. - A product your store can no longer sell. The customer is told plainly rather than shown a button that does nothing. ## Money The order total can go up. Shopify does not charge on its own, so the extra amount stays due until your customer pays it through Shopify's own checkout, and the order is held until then. ## FAQ ### Does the customer get a second order? No. The product is added to the order they already placed: one order, one shipment, one payment step. ### Can I limit what they can add? Yes. Allow every active product, only products in collections you choose, or only products with tags you choose. Out-of-stock products can be hidden. ### Can they add something after everything has shipped? Yes, unless you switch that off. The new item ships separately as a second parcel. The same switch also covers Recommended for you and free gifts. ### Does my customer see this automatically? Not until you add Tacey's block to the two pages. In Shopify's checkout and customer accounts editor, choose Add block, then Tacey editing tools, and save, on both the Thank you page and the Order status page. Turning a tool on in Tacey does not place the block for you. ### Is this tool on every plan? Yes.
