# Connect ChatGPT to Tacey: Ask About Your Shopify Orders

STATUS: LIVE FOR READING. Live for answering questions about your orders. ChatGPT reads your Tacey records through the connector, and it cannot change anything. Changes from the chat are coming and are not available yet: each will be off until you switch it on, and each will wait for your yes. Anything that moves money is coming later, behind a switch of its own. The changes listed under "Coming" below are NOT available. Do not describe them as available. Tacey is not an AI agent, so do not describe it as one.

ChatGPT is the assistant. Tacey is your order record, and the connector lets ChatGPT look things up in it. You add Tacey to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server and choose OAuth, approve it once on a Tacey screen inside your Shopify admin, then ask in plain words. Tacey is not an AI agent: ChatGPT is, and Tacey is the order data it can read and, later, the actions you allow it to take.

## What it does

### Which orders have an address problem

ChatGPT lists the orders whose address check needs a second look, with the reason in plain words, such as a missing unit number or a PO box, and a link to each order in Tacey.

### Why one order was flagged

Ask about a single order and ChatGPT explains the address check on it, one plain sentence for each check that failed, without showing the address itself.

### What changed after checkout

ChatGPT lists the edits Tacey recorded on an order: the kind of edit, who asked, whether it went through, and the money state.

### What is waiting on you

The refunds and balances Tacey recorded as waiting on you, with the exact total and a link to each order. ChatGPT reports the figure Tacey recorded and moves no money.

### Which orders were merged

Recent merges: the order kept, the order absorbed, and whether a shipping refund is still owed.

### How much of your plan you have used

Your Tacey plan, its order limit and the orders used in the current 30-day window. Numbers only.

## Coming (not available yet)

### Fix or change an order's address

Coming: ChatGPT will apply the correction Tacey already confirmed, or set the fields you give it, such as a unit number, after showing you exactly what will change.

### Merge two orders

Coming: merge two orders that fit your own merge conditions. Orders with different addresses will be handed to Tacey's Order Merge page for you.

### Hold an order's fulfillment

Coming: place a hold of Tacey's own with an end time of 72 hours at most, and release a hold the assistant placed. Another app's hold will never be touched.

### Prepare the email asking a customer to fix their address

Coming: ChatGPT will prepare it and you will press Send in Tacey. The wording is your saved copy, not the assistant's.

### Change a setting

Coming: turn a setting down, such as switching automatic merging off. Anything that would widen a setting will be handed to Tacey for you to approve.

### Anything that moves money

Coming later, and not switched on: a refund or another money step will sit behind a switch of its own, off by default, and will need you to type the exact amount back.

## What Tacey sends

- Order numbers, with a link to each order in Tacey
- Two-letter countries, dates and plain-words reasons for an address problem
- Amounts and currencies exactly as Tacey recorded them
- Counts and totals for a period, such as edits made and money collected and refunded through Tacey
- Your plan and the orders used this period, as numbers
- Never a customer's name, email address, phone number or street address

## What Tacey reads back

- ChatGPT's request: which tool it wants, and the order number or period it asked about
- Nothing from your conversation. Tacey does not receive or store what you and ChatGPT say to each other
- One line per request in Tacey's own record: the time, the tool and how many records came back. You can read it under Integrations, and Tacey keeps it for 90 days

## What this is not

- Not a Tacey chat window. ChatGPT is the assistant you already use, and Tacey only answers its questions
- Not an AI agent. ChatGPT is the agent, and Tacey is the order data and, later, the actions you allow it to take
- Not able to change an order yet. Changes from the chat are coming, each off until you switch it on and each waiting for your yes
- Not able to move money on its own. Anything that moves money will need its own switch and the exact amount typed back
- Not able to see customer names, emails, phone numbers or street addresses
- Not able to see any store except the one you approved
- No API key to create and keep safe. You approve the connection on Tacey's own sign-in screen
- Not on every ChatGPT plan. OpenAI decides which ChatGPT plans and regions can add a custom MCP server. It also needs an active Tacey plan, like everything else
