# Shopify Global Catalog Search - Compare Prices

Paste a product name or URL. See who else sells it across Shopify, and at what price.

## Search Shopify's Global Catalog with the same filters Shopify itself exposes

Pricing competitively against other Shopify stores is hard without knowing what they charge, and a plain keyword search is too blunt to compare like-for-like. This tool searches Shopify's cross-merchant Global Catalog (the same data layer AI shopping agents use to recommend products) with the full filter set Shopify's own Catalog console exposes - region, shipping origin and destination, category, colour, size, gender, condition and stock status - and returns every eligible Shopify merchant selling a matching product, with their price and stock status. It shows who sells something and at what price. It doesn't buy, hold a cart, or check anyone out.

## Search, filter, and read the spread

1. Paste a product name (e.g. 'Stanley Quencher 40oz tumbler') or a Shopify product URL.
2. Optionally narrow with Region (buyer country, ships to, ships from), Attributes (categories, colour, size, target gender, condition) or Listing (in stock only, min/max price). Every filter starts unset - an untouched search is unfiltered.
3. Click Search the catalog. The query hits Shopify's Global Catalog and returns matches sorted by price ascending, up to the result count you chose.
4. Read the price stats: lowest, median, highest. The spread tells you whether the market has agreed on a price or whether it's still finding equilibrium.
5. Scan the merchant list. Each row shows the shop name, product title at that shop, current price, and stock status. Click View to verify on the merchant's storefront.
6. If a filter name or value Shopify doesn't recognise slips through, it's surfaced verbatim in a 'Notes from Shopify' panel above the results - never silently dropped.

## Reading the result honestly

- A wide price spread (>50%) is usually a sign of mixed inventory - some listings are knockoffs, some are bundles, some are the genuine product. Click through and verify before pricing reactively.
- The lowest-priced listing is sometimes a bot, a dropshipper with no inventory, or an out-of-stock item. The median price is a more honest comparison point than the lowest.
- If your price is at the median or below, you're competitively positioned. If you're at or above the highest, you'd better have a strong differentiation story (faster shipping, bundle, customer service tier).
- Categories and attribute values have to roughly match Shopify's own product taxonomy. A category that doesn't exist in the taxonomy just returns zero matches with no error - if a filtered search comes back empty, try loosening it before assuming nobody else sells the product.
- Not every product appears in Shopify's cross-merchant Catalog yet. Stores are added gradually - if you find zero matches for a popular product, it doesn't mean nobody else sells it.
- Use this for new SKU launches. Before you set a price, check what 5-10 other Shopify merchants charge for the same product. Pricing in the median window prevents day-one race-to-the-bottom dynamics.

## When to reach for this

- **New SKU launch**: Set initial pricing based on real cross-merchant data, not gut feel. Avoid pricing too high (zero conversions) or too low (instant margin compression).
- **Quarterly pricing review**: Audit your top 20 SKUs. Anything where you're 20%+ above the median is at risk of cart abandonment when shoppers comparison-shop.
- **Reactive pricing decisions**: A customer just emailed 'Store X is selling this for less'. Look it up, filtered to the same region and condition - is the customer right, or are they comparing to a different SKU / bundle / market?

## Match list + 3-stat price summary (lowest / median / highest)

A 3-stat price grid (lowest, median, highest USD), a 2-3 sentence merchant-facing summary of where the market sits, a per-merchant table showing shop name, product title at that shop, current price, currency, stock status, and a direct link to verify on the merchant's storefront - plus any notes Shopify attached to the search (an ignored filter, an FX-converted price range). 3 searches per IP per day on the free tier (cross-merchant queries are heavier than per-merchant queries).
