Free gift. Unlocked by the order they already placed.

A gift that unlocks at a spend threshold rewards the bigger order without a code or a second checkout. This tool shows the gift on the thank you and order status pages, and the customer claims it onto the order they already placed.

14-day free trial on every plan.
WHERE YOUR CUSTOMER SEES ITOn the Thank you page and the Order status page, in the Tacey editing tools block.
MONEYThe gift itself is free and nothing is refunded. On some orders Shopify adds a charge when the gift is added, such as an import duty on a parcel that crosses a border. That amount stays due, and both you and your customer are told.
PLANSOn every plan. Plans differ by order volume only.

What your customer does. Step by step.

  1. Your customer's order reaches the minimum total you set, and a gift card appears on the thank you or order status page.
  2. They tap the gift. The button says Claim now unless you wrote your own words for their language.
  3. The gift is added to the same order at $0.00. There is no second checkout and no discount code.

What you control. Set in Tacey, per store.

These are the settings on this tool's page in Tacey, in the words the app uses. Where a setting has a default, it is stated.

Minimum order totalCustomers who reach this subtotal unlock the gift. You set a real amount before the tool can turn on, because money is never a default.
Gift productsThe products you give away. You set each one up in Shopify first, as an Unlisted product, then choose it here. With no gift chosen the tool stays hidden from your customers.
Gifts per orderHow many free gifts one order may carry.
Gift button textThe word on the gift card's button, per language. Customers see Claim now unless you add your own words.
Orders that ship to another countryOffer the gift and tell the customer and you if money is owed (the default), or offer no gift on orders that ship to another country.

What it refuses. And says so.

A tool that fails quietly is worse than one that says no. When an order does not qualify, your customer sees the real reason instead of a dead button.

  • Orders whose edit window has closed. You choose how long customers can edit their own order after checkout.
  • Orders paid with Shop Pay Installments, orders from before 2019, local delivery orders, orders created by another app, and orders still waiting for payment. Tacey never edits the items on those.
  • Cancelled orders, and orders that were merged into another order.
  • An order where everything has already shipped, if you switch off "Allow adding items after the whole order has shipped". It is on until you turn it off.
  • Orders below your minimum total.
  • Orders that already carry import duties. A gift is never offered on those.

Questions about free gift

All features →
Is there a discount code?
No. The gift is a real product added to the order and discounted to $0.00. There is no code to enter or share.
Who pays for the shipping?
Gifts ship on your existing shipping charge. To cover their cost, raise your spend threshold.
Can a customer find the gift in my store and buy it?
Set the gift product to Unlisted in Shopify and it stays out of your search, collections and recommendations. Anyone who has its direct link can still buy it at its normal price, because that is how Shopify built Unlisted, so give it a handle that is hard to guess.
Does my customer see this automatically?
Not until you add Tacey's block to the two pages. In Shopify's checkout and customer accounts editor, choose Add block, then Tacey editing tools, and save, on both the Thank you page and the Order status page. Turning a tool on in Tacey does not place the block for you.
Is this tool on every plan?
Yes. Plans differ by how many orders you send through Tacey each month, never by which tools you get.
