Universal Product Lookup

Pricing competitively against other Shopify stores is hard without knowing what they charge. Paste a product, see who else sells it across Shopify's cross-merchant catalog, plus their prices and stock status.

Try:

Searches the cross-merchant Shopify Catalog for the same Universal Product ID across every eligible merchant. No login required.

What this tool does

Cross-merchant pricing comparison powered by Shopify's Catalog API

Pricing competitively against other Shopify stores is hard without knowing what they charge. Most merchants set prices by gut feel, then race to discount when a competitor undercuts them. This tool taps Shopify's cross-merchant Catalog (the same data layer AI shopping agents use to recommend products) and returns every Shopify merchant selling the same product, with their prices and stock status. One paste, one verdict, no spreadsheet.

How to use it

Look up any product in seconds

  1. 1

Paste a product name (e.g. 'Stanley Quencher 40oz tumbler') or a Shopify product URL. The tool will pick the right matching strategy automatically.

  2. 2

Click Look up product. The query hits Shopify's cross-merchant Catalog and returns up to 20 matches sorted by price ascending.

  3. 3

Read the price stats: lowest, median, highest. The spread tells you whether the market has agreed on a price or whether it's still finding equilibrium.

  4. 4

Scan the merchant list. Each row shows the shop name, product title at that shop, current price, and stock status. Click View to verify on the merchant's storefront.

Merchant tips

Reading the result honestly

  • A wide price spread (>50%) is usually a sign of mixed inventory - some listings are knockoffs, some are bundles, some are the genuine product. Click through and verify before pricing reactively.

  • The lowest-priced listing is sometimes a bot, a dropshipper with no inventory, or an out-of-stock item. The median price is a more honest comparison point than the lowest.

  • If your price is at the median or below, you're competitively positioned. If you're at or above the highest, you'd better have a strong differentiation story (faster shipping, bundle, customer service tier).

  • Not every product appears in Shopify's cross-merchant Catalog yet. Stores are added gradually - if you find zero matches for a popular product, it doesn't mean nobody else sells it, just that the Catalog hasn't ingested those listings yet.

  • Use this for new SKU launches. Before you set a price, check what 5-10 other Shopify merchants charge for the same UPID. Pricing in the median window prevents day-one race-to-the-bottom dynamics.

When to use this

When to reach for this

New SKU launch

Set initial pricing based on real cross-merchant data, not gut feel. Avoid pricing too high (zero conversions) or too low (instant margin compression).

Quarterly pricing review

Audit your top 20 SKUs. Anything where you're 20%+ above the median is at risk of cart abandonment when shoppers comparison-shop.

Reactive pricing decisions

A customer just emailed 'Store X is selling this for less'. Look up the UPID - is the customer right, or are they comparing to a different SKU / bundle?

What you get out

Match list + 3-stat price summary (lowest / median / highest)

A 3-stat price grid (lowest, median, highest USD), a 2-3 sentence merchant-facing summary of where the market sits, and a per-merchant table showing shop name, product title at that shop, current price, currency, stock status, and a direct link to verify on the merchant's storefront. 3 lookups per IP per day on the free tier (cross-merchant queries are heavier than per-merchant queries).
