POST-PURCHASE UPSELL

One more thing, on the one screen every Shopify plan gets.

It renders after payment is authorised and before the thank you page, on the order they just paid for. The parcel is already paid for and not yet picked, which is the one moment where “no additional shipping” is literally true.

14-day free trial on every plan. No setup call required.

After payment, before the thank you page. That gap is the whole advantage.

In-checkout offers, the kind that sit inside the shipping-method box, are a Shopify Plus capability. This surface is not. It is available on every plan, which is why it is the one we build.

And the item is added to the existing order, not a new one. That is what makes the shipping line true rather than a marketing sentence.

Not every checkout reaches this screen. Shopify decides that, not us.

This offer runs on Shopify's post-purchase surface, and Shopify only renders it for a credit card charged directly at checkout. A buyer who pays with a wallet, a buy-now-pay-later method, or a gift card skips straight to the thank you page, on every app that uses this surface, not just ours.

SKIPS STRAIGHT TO THE THANK-YOU PAGE
Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Klarna, Affirm, Afterpay, Amazon Pay, a gift card, local delivery orders, orders with duties or more than one currency, and anything not placed through the Online Store sales channel.

The address check and order editing are unaffected either way, because those run on the thank you page itself, which every order reaches regardless of how it was paid for.

The button is the confirmation. It carries the exact amount.

Nothing is added by default, ever. Nothing is charged until the button is pressed. A shopper never presses a control whose cost they have to infer, and the decline is a real control of equal legibility, not a grey whisper under a black button.

NO PRE-SELECTIONNothing is in the order yetThe offer is shown, not applied. There is no ticked box to find and untick.
AMOUNT ON THE BUTTONAdd to Order · $25.20The price is on the control, in the same figure the card is charged.
ONE DECISIONNo second offer after a declineDeclining is instant and final for that order. No “how about this instead” chain.
NEVER TRAPPEDThe route to the confirmation stays openEvery control moves them forward. The original purchase is never at risk.

An upsell is an edit, so it writes to the record too.

The item is added to the existing order. The charge is captured against the payment method already authorised, for the exact amount shown. Then the same row every other edit gets is written, and the warehouse still does not pick until the window closes.

A screen between a shopper and their confirmation has to behave in every case, not just the happy one.

NO ELIGIBLE OFFERThe screen is skippedThey go straight to the thank you page. Never an empty offer frame.

DECLINEDStraight to thank youNo second offer, and no delay. The decision is final for that order.
CHARGE FAILEDPlain language, order intactNo retry loop, and the original purchase is never at risk.
EXPIREDThe offer is gone and says soThe window is enforced on our side. A timer that runs out and still accepts the order would be a dark pattern.
OUT OF STOCKWithdrawn before it rendersNever after the press. A shopper is not sold something the warehouse cannot pick.
