PRODUCTS & QUANTITIES

Recommended for you. Offered while the box is still open.

The best moment to offer a second product is right after the first is paid for. This tool shows recommended products on the thank you and order status pages, and the customer adds one to the order they already placed.

14-day free trial on every plan.
WHERE YOUR CUSTOMER SEES ITOn the Thank you page and the Order status page, in the Tacey editing tools block.
MONEYThe order total can go up. Shopify does not charge on its own, so the extra amount stays due until your customer pays it through Shopify's own payment link. If you turn on a discount, the customer sees Shopify's own original and discounted prices before they confirm.
PLANSOn every plan. Plans differ by order volume only.

What your customer does. Step by step.

  1. Your customer sees a Recommended for you row on the thank you page, the order status page, or both, depending on your setting.
  2. The products come from your rules, or from Shopify's own related-product suggestions for what they bought. When nothing matches, they see the default you set.
  3. They pick one, choose a quantity, and review Shopify's own price and balance, including your discount if you set one.
  4. They confirm and pay the difference through Shopify's own payment link. The product is added to the same order.

What you control. Set in Tacey, per store.

These are the settings on this tool's page in Tacey, in the words the app uses. Where a setting has a default, it is stated.

Recommendation sourceMy rules (the default), or Shopify recommends: Shopify suggests products related to what the customer bought. Your default recommendation is shown when Shopify has none.
Order-total rulesIf the order total falls in a range you set, recommend products priced in a range you set.
Product rules and collection rulesIf the order contains a product, recommend specific products, or products from a collection. The first matching rule wins.
Default recommendationWhat a customer sees when no rule applies: best sellers, new products, products from the same collection as the order, or products or a collection you pick.
Maximum products shown, and maximum quantity per itemHow many products appear at once, and the most of one item a customer can add.
Hide items already in this order, and out-of-stock itemsBoth on by default.
Discount recommended itemsOff by default. A percentage or a fixed amount off each item a customer adds. Nothing is discounted unless you switch it on.
Shipping on recommended itemsAbsorb the cost, so there is nothing extra to pay (the default), or charge a flat amount you set.
Show onThank you and order status pages, the thank you page only, or the order status page only.

What it refuses. And says so.

A tool that fails quietly is worse than one that says no. When an order does not qualify, your customer sees the real reason instead of a dead button.

  • Orders whose edit window has closed. You choose how long customers can edit their own order after checkout.
  • Orders paid with Shop Pay Installments, orders from before 2019, local delivery orders, orders created by another app, and orders still waiting for payment. Tacey never edits the items on those.
  • Cancelled orders, and orders that were merged into another order.
  • An order where everything has already shipped, if you switch off "Allow adding items after the whole order has shipped". It is on until you turn it off.
  • Items already in the order, and out-of-stock items, while those two switches are on.
  • A discount that would be 100 percent, or a fixed amount at or above the item's price.

Questions about recommended for you

All features →
Who chooses what is recommended?
You do, with rules based on the order total, on a product in the order, or on a collection. Or you let Shopify suggest related products for each order. Either way you set a default for when nothing matches.
Does the customer buy through a second checkout?
No. The product is added to the order they already placed. If it costs money, they pay the difference through Shopify's own payment link and the order is held until it is paid.
Can I give a discount on the recommended item?
Yes, as a percentage or a fixed amount, and it is off until you switch it on. A percentage must be above 0 and below 100.
Is the shipping on the added item free?
By default your existing shipping charge covers it and the customer pays nothing extra. You can instead charge a flat shipping amount, added in the same step the customer confirms.
Does my customer see this automatically?
Not until you add Tacey's block to the two pages. In Shopify's checkout and customer accounts editor, choose Add block, then Tacey editing tools, and save, on both the Thank you page and the Order status page. Turning a tool on in Tacey does not place the block for you.
Is this tool on every plan?
Yes. Plans differ by how many orders you send through Tacey each month, never by which tools you get.
