ADDRESS & CONTACT

Edit delivery address. Fixed by your customer, checked before it saves.

A wrong address is the most common reason a parcel comes back. This tool lets your customer correct their own delivery address on the page Shopify shows after checkout, and Tacey checks the new address before it is saved to the order.

14-day free trial on every plan.
WHERE YOUR CUSTOMER SEES ITOn the Thank you page and the Order status page, in the Tacey editing tools block.
MONEYNo money moves by default. If you choose to charge the difference for a costlier shipping zone, your customer sees Shopify's exact extra amount before anything is saved, confirms it, and pays on Shopify's own payment page. The order is held until it is paid.
PLANSOn every plan. Plans differ by order volume only.

What your customer does. Step by step.

  1. Your customer opens "Make changes to your order" on the thank you page or the order status page and chooses Edit delivery address.
  2. They type the corrected address. Tacey checks it, and when something looks wrong it shows a suggested version beside theirs. They can keep their own.
  3. They review the address and confirm. The confirm step is on unless you turn it off.
  4. The order in Shopify carries the new address. The change is recorded on your Order changes page.

What you control. Set in Tacey, per store.

These are the settings on this tool's page in Tacey, in the words the app uses. Where a setting has a default, it is stated.

Ask the customer to confirmShow the corrected address and make the customer confirm before it is saved. On by default.
When to suggest a correctionOnly when something looks wrong (the default), every time, or never. Tacey still checks the address when you choose never; it just does not show a suggestion.
Apply confident corrections automaticallyOff by default, because it changes where a parcel goes with nobody confirming it.
Block addresses we can't confirmRefuse to save an edited address the check cannot confirm, until the customer picks the suggestion or corrects it. Off by default.
PO boxesWarn the customer that their carrier may not deliver to one, or refuse PO boxes outright.
Keep edits inside the original countryOn by default. The country field shows the order's own country and the customer is told to contact you to change it. Turn it off and they see a dropdown of every country you ship to.
When an address change moves the order into a different shipping zoneDon't allow the change and ask the customer to contact you (the default), keep the original shipping fee, or charge the customer the difference.
Form shapeShow a company field, hide address line 2, and set a maximum length for each address and name field.

What it refuses. And says so.

A tool that fails quietly is worse than one that says no. When an order does not qualify, your customer sees the real reason instead of a dead button.

  • Orders whose edit window has closed. You choose how long customers can edit their own order after checkout.
  • Cancelled orders, and orders that were merged into another order.
  • Local pickup orders. There is no delivery address to change.
  • A new address in a different shipping zone, when it would change the shipping cost and you chose "Don't allow the change".
  • A PO box, when you chose to refuse them.
  • A change of country, while "Keep edits inside the original country" is on.

Questions about edit delivery address

All features →
Does Tacey check the new address?
Yes. The corrected address is checked before it is saved. By default Tacey only shows a suggestion when something looks wrong, and your customer can keep the address they typed.
Can a customer move the order to another country?
Not by default. "Keep edits inside the original country" is on, so the country field is locked and the customer is asked to contact you. You can turn it off.
What if the new address costs more to ship to?
You decide. The default refuses the change and asks the customer to contact you. You can instead keep the original shipping fee, or charge the difference, which your customer sees and pays through Shopify before it applies.
Does my customer see this automatically?
Not until you add Tacey's block to the two pages. In Shopify's checkout and customer accounts editor, choose Add block, then Tacey editing tools, and save, on both the Thank you page and the Order status page. Turning a tool on in Tacey does not place the block for you.
Is this tool on every plan?
Yes. Plans differ by how many orders you send through Tacey each month, never by which tools you get.
