MONEY

Upgrade shipping method. Live rates from your own checkout.

A customer who sees the delivery estimate after paying may want it sooner. This tool offers the shipping rates your own checkout would quote for their address today, and they pay the difference to upgrade.

14-day free trial on every plan.
WHERE YOUR CUSTOMER SEES ITOn the Thank you page and the Order status page, in the Tacey editing tools block.
MONEYThe order total can go up. The extra amount stays due until your customer pays it through Shopify's own payment page, and the order is held until then.
PLANSOn every plan. Plans differ by order volume only.

What your customer does. Step by step.

  1. Your customer opens "Make changes to your order" and chooses Upgrade shipping method.
  2. They see the rates your checkout would quote for their address today, with real prices. Only rates that cost more than the current one are offered.
  3. They pick one and see the price difference before confirming.
  4. They pay the difference through Shopify's own payment page. The order ships with the new method once it is paid.

What you control. Set in Tacey, per store.

These are the settings on this tool's page in Tacey, in the words the app uses. Where a setting has a default, it is stated.

Which shipping rates can be offeredEvery rate your checkout offers (the default), or only the specific rates you pick. They come from your own shipping settings in Shopify.
How long each rate takesShopify does not tell Tacey how long a rate takes, so the "Arrives in" line under a rate is only what you type here. A rate you leave out shows its name and price only.
Hours to wait for payment on an upgradeIf a customer upgrades but never pays, the order is held. After this many hours the unpaid difference is marked as not collected, and the order stays on hold until it is paid, you collect it, or you release the hold in Shopify. The upgrade stays on the order.

What it refuses. And says so.

A tool that fails quietly is worse than one that says no. When an order does not qualify, your customer sees the real reason instead of a dead button.

  • Orders whose edit window has closed. You choose how long customers can edit their own order after checkout.
  • Orders paid with Shop Pay Installments, orders from before 2019, local delivery orders, orders created by another app, and orders still waiting for payment. Tacey never edits the items on those.
  • Cancelled orders, and orders that were merged into another order.
  • An order with nothing left to ship.
  • Local pickup orders. There is no shipping method to upgrade.
  • A rate that costs less than the current one. Only upgrades are offered.

Questions about upgrade shipping method

All features →
Where do the rates come from?
From your own checkout. Tacey asks Shopify for the rates it would quote for the customer's address today. There is no price table typed into Tacey.
Can a customer switch to a cheaper rate?
No. Only rates that cost more than the current one are offered.
What if the customer never pays the difference?
The order is held. After the number of hours you set, the unpaid difference is marked as not collected and the order stays on hold until it is paid, you collect it, or you release the hold in Shopify.
Does my customer see this automatically?
Not until you add Tacey's block to the two pages. In Shopify's checkout and customer accounts editor, choose Add block, then Tacey editing tools, and save, on both the Thank you page and the Order status page. Turning a tool on in Tacey does not place the block for you.
Is this tool on every plan?
Yes. Plans differ by how many orders you send through Tacey each month, never by which tools you get.

Install it. Switch on the tools you want.
