INTEGRATIONS

Tacey and Slack, on the same order.

Most order edits need nobody. The customer fixes their own address on the order-status page, Tacey writes the change, and the warehouse picks the corrected order. The ones that matter are the exceptions, and an exception is only useful if somebody sees it in time. Slack is where your team already is.

TaceySlackOn the roadmap
This one is not built yet, and we would rather say so.

Everything below is what the Slack integration will do, written down so you can tell us whether it is the right shape before we build it. Nothing on this page works today. If you want it, say so and it moves up the list, and we will tell you when it ships rather than leaving you to check.

Tell us you want Slack

What it will do. In cases, not features.

One message in the channel your team already watches when an order edit needs a human, so nobody has to keep the admin open.

An edit that nothing downstream acknowledgedAn address is corrected at 2:41pm and the fulfillment system never confirms it. That is the message worth having, because it is the one that becomes a parcel sent to the old address. It goes to the channel with the order link attached, while the window is still open.
A cancellation before the picker startsA customer cancels four minutes after ordering. Support sees it in the channel rather than finding out when the refund request arrives, and nobody picks stock for an order that no longer exists.
An address the validator would not passA shipping address fails validation and is flagged rather than silently corrected. Somebody sees the flag, looks at it, and decides, instead of the order sitting in a queue nobody opens.
A daily digest instead of a firehoseAt 500 orders a month the interesting events are a handful a day. One scheduled summary in one channel is more likely to be read than forty individual notifications, so the volume is yours to choose.

What crosses the line, in both directions.

The question a merchant actually has before connecting anything, answered without making you read a policy page.

WHAT TACEY SENDS
  • Order number, and a link straight to that order in your Shopify admin
  • What changed: the field, the value before, and the value after
  • Who made the change, the customer or a member of staff
  • When the edit window closes for that order
  • Whether the change was acknowledged downstream, or never was
WHAT TACEY READS BACK
  • Nothing. Slack is a destination, not a source
  • No customer contact details, and no payment information, are ever sent

What this is not.

A scope you can trust is more useful than a feature list you cannot. These are the things people reasonably assume and that are not true.

  • Not a support inbox. Slack shows you what happened; the order is still edited in Shopify
  • Not a message for every order. An event you did not turn on is not sent
  • Not a place customers reach. This is an internal channel, and no customer ever posts into it
  • Not a replacement for the record. Everything in Slack is also in Tacey's own log, which is what you export

Install Tacey now. This lands on top of it.
